Speicherstadt digital

The “Speicherstadt digital” project is part of Hamburg’s cultural digitisation strategy. The aim is to make cultural assets a digital experience for everyone and thus create a comprehensive access to our cultural heritage. As a part of a team at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg (HAW), we created a virtual reality application which allows you to experience the working environment in Hamburg’s historical warehouse district around 1900.

An exhibition of this project took place from December 14 2017 to May 15 2018 at the Dialoghaus Hamburg. Two visitors at a time could dive into three different scenarios using the HTC Vive while being guided by a supervisor via voice chat.

The environments and models were recreated using historical plans and images. The project was developed in Unity3D with the use of Nvidia VRWorks.
